i do change to a fresh pair of thick, wool socks for sleeping but my feet still get cold (my 20 deg bag is not enough when it's in the 15's). i didn't know they existed before i started researching online since i've never seen this kind of product in stores before, except for rei. it looks like the soles are heavy duty enough (1000d cordura) that i can walk around camp letting my feet relax a bit with my boots off.

I haven't used wiggys brand, but I listed my Integral Designs Hot Socks in the trail comforts thread. Very similar, but may be a bit less substantial than those. I absolutely love them, because cold feet can really ruin a good nights sleep.

I have neither, but if you buy a pair of these booties pick up some McNetts "SeamGrip" tent-seam sealer and 'paint' the bottoms/soles of them. With the SeamGrip, the soles will be water proof and resist wear.

I use SeamGrip to coat the bottom of my EDC/Camera bags (water proof and wear/abrasion resistant), repair holes in my G-Tex clothes (gaiters/pants/bibs) and of course seal the seams in new (non-Sil-nylon fabric) tents.

Every outdoorsman should have a tube on hand. It's the best outdoors cloth performance additive/protectant i've seen in 30 years of outdoor's "play" (military/mountaineering/backpacking/etc).

thanks! glad to hear they work really well. maybe this way i can save the wool socks so i can have a fresh pair the next day instead.

good tip! thanks. thinking about it now too, i know i have a can or two of those rubber spray sealant in the garage (not the infomercial flex-seal but similar - this one is made by rustoleum). i have a bottle of mcnett's seam sealer but i'm saving it for tarps and stuff.

SeamGrip is on my Christmas List *every* year as a stocking-stuffer. I go though it like crazy. It goes on the bottom of every pack i use plus is used to coat-over any fabric abrasions, cuts, etc. It's not cheap - thinking around $6 a tube and going up, but well worth it! I've used the McNett SeamGrip for Sil-Nylon and it's not as durable as the 'normal' stuff.

Anyway, if you're looking for something to wear in your sleeping bag as you go to sleep, about any down-booties would do the job (presuming they're adequately filled with insulation).

As an aside, for cold-weather sleeping, one thing i do at night about a half-hour before bed-time is fill my Nalgenes (usually 2x 32oz) up with boiling-hot water, screw the lid on tight, and put it in the foot-box of my sleeping bag. Oh what a joy that is!!! From my less-informed and more "testosterone-charged" youth, I've 2nd degree frost-bit (generally known as frost-nip) my feet several times so now i'm more susceptable to cold toes and must take extra measures to ensure i stay healthy.
