On my little quest to find a new axis lock, I ran across the pseudo axis lock d`allara...the pointy one. Not sure if I'd get combo edge or not...

Anyway, thoughts? How's the ball bearing compare to an axis lock?

The ball bearing lock on my Dodo is pretty good, but the axis lock is far easier to disengage. Over all, I like the ball bearing lock, but if a knife came in both axis and ball bearing, I would choose the axis.

I carried the D'Allara drop point for about a week and plan to return to it as soon as deer season is over. (Until then I'll be carrying my guthook Impala). In the short time I carried it, however, it really started to prove itself. This folder is going to be a hit with the hard use crowd. Access to the ball lock is much improved over any previous Spyderco ball lock. I was wearing brown cotton work gloves and unlocking it no problem. Also, the ball seems to "jump" forward in the channel farther than previous generation locks. Lockup feels more positive as a result.

I think the new D'Allara is a great bargain. ;)
