Anyone using the MSC bandsaws (similar to HF saws)???

Guys,
As many of you may know, I couldn't bring myself to purchase the HF bandsaw for $159.99. I just want something a little more, but don't REALLY have a $1000 to spend.
I have seen the JET bandsaw, and it is a little bit nicer, and can be had for a bit under $300 (cheapest I've found).
Now, I have recently seen the MSC bandsaws which are very similar, but I've only seen them in the catalog. In fact, they have TWO different versions, and one is $277.95 which is labeled "import" in the MSC catalog shown here:http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMAKA=40051690

The other, supposedly nicer unit, costs $455.00, and is labeled "MSC". It is shown here:http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMAKA=32152191

They both have the automatic shut off, (not sure if HF saw had that or not), they both say "low noise while operating" (yeah right) and the more expensive one labeled "MSC" says it has a "swivel arm".
What exactly does the "swivel arm" do?
I am asking to see if anyone here in the forum has first hand experience with either of these saws, and are they nicer than the JET bandsaw? Is the higher price worth it? I'm sure they are all nicer than the HF saw, as it is pretty much bottom of the line as far as this import saw goes. That's just how HF does things. We all know that.
Please understand guys, I'm not looking for a $1000 for SURE, and if I can find something a little higher quality/better built than the HF saw, I will jump on it.

Here's my take on it. Currently I use a Dake 120" vertical bandsaw. Had it about 4 years now. Prior to it, I used a Central Machinery (HF) vertical/horizontal for about 12 years. Probably cut 6-8000 blades out on it. The worm gear had just worn out and I was ready for a new toy.
All those vertical/horizontal bandsaws are near identical. If it is 64 1/2" blade and has roller bearing guides rather than the rods, go for it.
Based on my experience, I could have bought 9 HF saws and cut out 64,000 blades with the same money i spent on the Dake. Just wanted a really nice bandsaw, and with the Dake, I got it. MSC carry the model I got. I think it's called the 14-10.

Nice Dake Kit!
Yeah, they are all the same inside for sure. I might actually commit to one of the imports, if it has a sturdy stand (HF doesn't), possibly a sturdier door, and a decent table.
I thought the MSC version MIGHT have a few added luxuries, given the extra price tag. I would like to know if so.
I would kill to have a DoAll, Wilton, or Dake.

Ask Tom Anderson. He has one. When I was there he had just gotten it and it looked like a nice unit.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that sits on the stand when using the HF bandsaw.

Hey! I have auto shut-off too......just lean a little to the right and my right butt-cheek shuts it off.

Look Ma! No hands! :D :p

I've been using a Harbor Freight bandsaw for years with no problem. I made a different table for it. The first thing you do on any of them is replace the blade with a good bi-metal one. If it quits tomorrow I'd buy another one from the same place.

Don't sell HF products short. I have two HF band saws both are great. The week point with them are the motors. Thy have both burnt up and I replaced them with the full size motors in the catalog and thy work great. Parts service is also good. Gib

Yeah guys, I know the HF's work. Not bashing anyone here.
I think I may get the JET. It has a 1/2HP motor, and a little better stand, and a few other SLIGHTLY nicer additions. They are all the same, but some are just a little bit better built.

Double check the HP of the motor, I think that the HF saw has a 1HP motor. I am of the school of thought that says you don't want a motor on a power tool less than 1HP. Gib
