If you are, would you mind telling us about it? If you can include Let me start off:

Saturday the 31st (2 days ago) some friends from church and I went up Provo canyon to South Fork Park, had a fire and Smores. Took my French Style hawk and 16.5" WWII to split logs. For me splitting logs was easier with my WWII so I let some friends use the Hawk. We desided that the Hawk was good but it needed to be sharpened up like my WWII is.

So here we are about 20 college students up in the mountains with about 3 to 4 feet of snow playing frisbee football, tending a fire, hiking and eating smores. Can't think of a funner way to spend 3 hours. :) Found my camera thats been lost for 2 months and took it with me. I'll try to get some pictures up something this afternoon.

Now it's your turn to tell us about using your HI Products this winter. :)

Not much of a story, just a bonecutter doing its thing. :)

I've used my 16.5 inch AK plenty this winter. No pics though, so this one from last winter will have to suffice:)

I have a question I'm embarrassed to not already know:

Do you chop any differently with a khukuri than with a bowie or do you chop the same (wrist relaxed until right before contact and tightly closing bottom two fingers) and just let the shape and mass do their thing?

A good chop with a kuri is the same as with a knife. Keep the wrist relaxed, and "lash" it at the end of a stroke like a whip.

Kukri use: Not special story, just use them occasionally to cut the jungle back around my house.

Nothing too special here either. I used my 9" Baby AK to dice up a tomato and and avocado for tacos last night though. I like using them in the kitchen - makes food prep more fun!

You may have started a trend:

Haha, you got it backwards! That's the video that inspired me to try them out in the kitchen! So far I've used my 16.5" WWII, Baby AK, Katunje and BGRS in the kitchen. Haven't tried the 18" M-43 yet - don't think my arms would last through one tomato!:)

I still love that Video!

Every time my wife says "What are you going to do with these things?" Bam... Fullscreen!

Trail clearing , chopping wood for a warming fire, slashing thru 2L bottles, keeping handy for a possible trip to Vallhalla.

No serious chopping any more since we cleared out the creek bed. Used the 20" AK & 16.5" villager WWII for that.

Getting a lot of use out of the HI Bamboo Cutter for reeds & the hasiya for weeds.

The HI cleaver is a mainstay in the kitchen. Funny.... I have some fancy Japanese Katana laminated VG-10 cutlery, but I'd rather use the HI Cleaver. It just has soul & it still has the sharp convex edge that I put on when I first got the thing. Holds a sharp edge really well.

Have always used the beater Bilton for opening boxes & cutting whatever needs to be cut... but now I wear the R-10 on my belt. It is one heckuva utility knife. Very strong 5" blade... shudda got one long ago. Only had it a coupla weeks & now its my EDC.

They don't count as khukris, but I get a lot of use out of these "small" HI products:

Hey Ugly Duck, what's the weight on that Kerambit? The blade on it looks a little thinner than mine, though it could just be the light.

As far as the thread goes, I've taken my Kerambit on quite a few snowshoeing trips, has done admirably for making small fires out of deadfall.

I did just a few days ago. There was a tree just past my back fence I took a few limbs off of to prevent them falling on my fence during the upcoming ice storm. Turned out real well. Shame I couldn't find my camera though.

I don't remember the weight, but it does look thinner compared to the kerambit that Voodoo just snagged. Get a lot of use out of it cuz its less conspicuous out in public than, say... strapping a 16.5" WWII on your belt....

Guys, thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Please keep them coming. Those are some great pictures!

I have to apologize, I still have not downloaded the pictures from my camera to my computer. Was going to do it when I got home about 40 minutes ago but my main machine is being used for some WarCraft III Tower Defence maps and I'll probably be joining them after dinner. LOL!! Will upload them tomorrow probably.

I finally got the pictures from the bonfire downloaded to my computer. Turns out I forgot to get some shots of the Hawk and WWII in action but I think you guys will still like these.

Here's the rest of the pictures.

Part of the group "went on a hike" but in reality they went around the hill and attacked us. The snow ball fight was fun!!:
