Anyone Want a Small Umnumzaan?

After reading countless threads on the Umnumzaan, Sebenza, and small Sebenza, I’ve found I love everything about the Umnumzaan but the size. I just prefer to edc a smaller knife most of the time. I think a small Umnumzaan, scaled down to the size of a small Sebenza, would be the perfect knife for me.

Anyone else want one?
 
I did til the 25 came out. I'd prefer a Small 25 to a Small Umnumzaan (and a Small Insingo 25 to both :D).
 
Chris reeve posted once that he will never make a small umnumzaan. I would love to have a small imnumzaan though the size is what keeps me away from it right now.
 
Not really. I'd rather see the energy spent in a new complimentary design to the Umnumzaan but in a smaller size. The 2 sizes aren't the same tool so something that compliments the strengths of the Umnumzaan but in a smaller size would be ideal to me.
 
nope, it's a perfect size. The small sebenza is plenty durable if you want that size imo.
 
I love the size of the Zaan; any smaller and I'd struggle with it, any larger and I'd need 2 hands to operate it. However, I'm all in if CR ever decides to offer a Mini-Boss, because in my current state of Zaan obsession, I just honestly wouldn't be able to resist it.:)
 
From what I understand a small Umnumzaan will never happen. Chris Reeve himself said so. And it makes sense as the Umnumzaan fills a more tactical niche.

I'm of the opinion that "CR small" is just a tad too small, even though I have EDC'd a small Regular Sebenza for years and never really felt the need for a larger blade. The large Sebenza on the other hand is a tad too large when you have to dress up.

So let's hope that with the 25 version we'll finally see a medium Sebenza.
 
It is weird that this thread showed up because I have been thinking about it a lot lately. I would love to see a small Umnumzaan (but it sounds like I never will :grumpy:). I really like small, overbuilt knives and a small Umnumzaan would just be the epitome of that for me. Yea, the small Sebenza is logically plenty tough enough for EDC, but it doesn't give me the "mini tank" feel that really floats my boat. I think a small Umnumzaan certainly would.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I know that the small Sebenza is very tough and could easily handle all my edc needs; but as you said, I like the idea of that “mini tank” in the pocket. I also prefer the scales and blade on the Umnumzaan. Don’t get me wrong the Sebenza is a nice looking knife, but the different characteristics and added detail of the Umnumzaan put it over the top for me.

Everytime I consider getting a small Sebenza or a Mnandi I end up with a Large:thumbup:

My last CRK purchase was the Umnumzaan and I feel for the way it is designed, it's size is perfect. I think my next purchase will be a back up Zaan, that's how much I love it:p
 
No. I think the size of the umnumzaan is perfect. I dont think of it as a tank though. Striders, ZTs, Hinderers, etc are tanks. But, for its size and being so slim and easy to edc, it is a pretty tough knife.

And that's great. To each his own. And that is what is so great about the Sebenza. Those that want a large can go large. Those that prefer small can go small. But there is no small Umnumzaan, so it's go large or go find something else. I think there is a niche here that I would love to see CRK fill with a small Umnumzaan.
 
I'd love a small Umnum, but I don't think CRK is going to go along with it. Theres a reason they call it "Boss"..... small Boss just don't sound right.

True. I guess I'm lucky not to have the desire for one, but I can understand those that do. I agree that it would fill a niche, maybe they have something else in the works along the same vein?
