I bought a knife from a guy. It was his grandfathers and WELL used. I figured someone should appreciate it.

I've been trying to get into whittling. Seems this would be a perfect whittling knife. I can sharpen decent, but I want three different grinds. That's beyond me. If anyone would like to do it, I would be happy to throw you a knife or something. Any takers? I'll pay postage both ways, too.

I don't know much about whittling, so I'm not even sure what grinds would be most useful. I'll send the email, thanks.

i assume its a stockman model. your spey blade should be ground to a spear point, the sheepsfoot ground to a smaller sheepsfoot and the main blade be fashioned to a murphy type. these 3 blade types should cover most of your needs. but remember each blade will be sig. shorter than what you started out with. aslo the blades need to be ground to a thinner profile as to "slide" thru the wood. esc. when going cross grain. the sheepsfoot can be used for general roughing out as with the murphy style and the converted spey blade for fine detail work. one more suggestion, buy a carving glove. i was stupid and didnt buy one and i now have a thumb with 30% less movement and nerve damage because i thought i wouldnt do somthing stupid with my knife.
