Did anyone watch Poltergeist on Turner Classic Movies this weekend?

I'm a horror movie afficianado and that's one of my favorites of all time! Hardly a horror movie has been made since that wasn't influenced by Poltergeist.

I happened to rent and watch Boogeyman on Friday night and it's CLEAR that director saw Poltergeist and was heavily influenced.

Man, I remember, how Poltergeist really scared the crap out of people in the 80s! That was one really creative movie at the time too. Remember them playing in the kitchen, letting the 'force' pull them across the kitchen floor?

It was made in 82, but up until about 1989 you could say to anyone, "Don't go into the the light!", and they knew what you were talking about.

I LOVE that freakin' movie! :D

Yea that is one of my favorites too , reminds me of being a youngin again hehe. I want to check out Boogeymen , previews look great that I have seen.
I finally saw Resident Evil 2 friday night , it was ok , a little too much ninja stuff for my taste but still worth watching one time.
Looking forward to Land of The Dead !!!!! :)
by the way the part I always grossed out on in Poltergeist was the maggotmeat scene ! as 'ol Jeff Spicoli would put it ..... "Gnarly!". :D

I know what you mean about that movie reminding you of being a "youngin". I'll bet that a whole generation of us never looked at "snow" on the Tv in quite the same way after watching Poltergiest. :) . I have to say that I enjoyed Resident Evil 2 more than the first one 'cause it seemed to capture the feel of the games more than the first, on a similar note I read somewhere that there was talk of a Silent Hill movie...... :) .
BTW, I'm with you all the way on Land Of The Dead :)

I recently saw Boogeyman, but only because my friend brought it over. It is, without a doubt, one of the five worst movies I have seen in the last ten yrs or so.

Modern horror movies are bad anyways, but this one just plain stunk. The ending was horrible, too, just horrible. It was a piece of ****, wrapped in a used tampon, and swimming in vomit.

Boogeyman is decent. Not the kind of thing I would buy. I buy the ones I REALLY liked.

Lately, those have been:
The Ring (I think they had to replace the movie theatre seat after I left)
The Others
Open Water (This one will affect you for DAYS)
Dawn of the Dead (Remake with the "fast zombies". GREAT soundtrack!)
I actually liked The Village but haven't bought it.

I'm looking forward to Land of the Dead too. I think they did the "fast zombies" this time. They must have learned from the new Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later.

Watch out for a movie called Dark Water. It's from the director of The Ring. It's one of those asian horror films remade "Americanized" like The Ring and The Grudge. (They've been doing that a lot lately for good reason - Asians are doing good stuff lately.) I have a DVD of the Asian version of Dark Water, but it don't work in my DVD player. I gotta watch it on my laptop sometime.

Have you noticed the rash of horror movies coming out lately? There's a reason for that. ;)

Land of the Dead will feature the old fashioned slow zombies , I thought the fast ones in the redo of DOTD to be refreshing.
lol I just saw a preview on Sci Fi channel , anyways it looks good , starts friday.
The Ring was good and so was the Grudge , both creepy !
