I've been waiting for this show to start for a few months now. I really like the concept. Much different than other "survival' reality shows. 10 guys get dropped off in different locations on Vancouver Island BC. No camera crew or production staff. They're totally alone and have to film themselves. They're allowed to take a total of 10 items. Last one to tap out via satellite phone wins. I know a couple of the guys from another forum.

First episode was last night. There are a total of 10 episodes from what i hear. You can watch last night's episode online as well as a bunch of other bonus videos.

Saw it last night and enjoyed watching. Makes me wonder why no firearms or protection of some sort is not available with wolf and bear encounters played up.

We recorded the first episode and will be watching it this weekend.......sounds like an interesting format.

Because getting eaten would be good TV.

No seriously it's pretty safe on the Island. They're probably more at risk of being run down by a bad driver than animal attack.

Did you watch the show?

oh sweet Mitch from YouTube is on - I knew he was shooting something but he hadn't revealed what it was for (at least last time I checked). Know Joe from the bushcraft forum too. Thanks for the info Nathan.

dustinf from BCUSA is on as well. I'm looking forward to how it all turns out and how long folks last.

Some additional info from the guys that are in the show regarding the items.

The 10 items they could take were from a list of 40 possible items approved by the show. They provided their own items from the list that were then approved by the show. So in the gear list on website it might saw "knife", but it was a knife picked by the contestant. I'm guessing Joe has his Adventure Sworn.

In addition to the 10 items, they had some item provided by the show such as a canvas tarp and bear spray. Using Joe as an example again, he has the show provided tarp plus his own tarp.

Their clothing was in addition to the 10 items as well.

Firearms were not allowed. Their only protection will be the bear spray and knives, axes, bows, etc.

Several of the contestants said they knew the kind of terrain they were going to be put in and that large animals would be present even though they didn't know the specific location. I sure would have picked a can of bear spray for one of my ten items to use not only on bear but any large animals.

The show provided bear spray and it didn't count against the 10 items. You can see Josh grab his can and his axe when the bears were outside his tent.

Scripted, but interesting nonetheless. The guy that dropped out was clearly uncomfortable as soon as he landed. Traveling/camping for the first time in lion or wolf country can be unnerving regardless of the odds of an encounter.

The first episode wasn't bad. I feel sorry for the guy who was surrounded by bears. Growing up in a similar environment, I can see how a large predator would freak out a person. We only have coyotes here too.

I'm very interested in how the 22 year old kid does. They didn't show much of him but his original reaction, which Seemed typical of most cocky children.....

My bet is Mitch or Joe. They are both physically in good shape and have the knowledge and maturity to win. Theirs are two of my favorite bushcraft youtube channels. Native Survival and Joe Robinet.
