I'm seriously considering the Vasque Goretex Zephyr boots, but at $165, I wanna make sure they're good! Quality, fit and finish all seam top notch. They are put together very well, and have an excellent Vibram sole (Which is also re-soleable) ANy opinions on Vasque would be appreciated.

I'm a big fan of Vasque & their variable fit insole system. Mine have lasted quite a while (on about 8 years so far). Another brand that I find nice is Asolo - they've given about the same wear & comfort.

I owned a pair of Vasque hiking boots a number of years ago, and they were great. Comfortable without any break-in and well made. I beat the heck out of them but they held together very well.

Thanks guys. I have been looking at Asolo, Vasque, Merrell and a few other brands. But these particular Vasque's seem t ofit my needs. I think I'll go ahead and order them!

go to a store and try them all. Most of these boots are made in Italy from different factories but are labeled in the US as vasque or asolo, scarpa, la sportiva etc etc. All these boots have small differences in length, width, toebox, heel, etc etc.

try as many as you can. do not mail order unless you already own the boot , still newer models might vary a bit.

another solution is go to the store try the boot on and then mailorder for a better price.

basically try on as many as possible and your feet will "choose" the boot. you would be surprised how different boots feel.
