Anyone work on oil rigs?

Any advice as to getting my foot in the door? Prior Navy and getting my twic card as I am going to apply for merchant marine positions but stumbled upon these oil rig jobs for roustabout jobs. Any advice would be appreciated, I live in southern CA. Thank you.
