I have searched the forum, and it seems the Benchmade Mini Griptilian model 555 is a solid knife. I haven't seen many complaints... I just wanted to ask if there was anything I should know when shopping for one.

One thing I learned is that the new ones are "154" blades, not 440. Anything else? Thanks!

Oh, are the different colored handles factory or a mod someone did? I like the yellow handles.. anyone have a photo of one?? Thanks!!!

Benchmade products are first class. I have two mini grips and they are a great way to get into the axis lock relatively inexpensively. No complaints and I doubt you will have any either. Cabelas sells a D2 version for a little extra and a Ritter grip comes with S30V. I have BM versions of all and for the price the 154CM would suit me just fine.

Thanks for the reply.. but what is "d2" and "S30v"? Blade related?:o

Yep, that's the steel the blade is made of. D2 is a fairly stain resistant, high carbon tool steel. S30V is a stainless steel with excellent edge retention and toughness, at least in my experience. To me, either of them would be worth a few extra dollars over the 154CM of the standard Grip.

Ohhh.. got it. Thank you.

I thought the 154 was the one I was suppose to get. Damn. I am going to use for edc, and not even cut much stuff. Just a fun factor. haha

60.00 isn't to far off what seems to be normal pricing... The handle colors are factory. Some of the grips come with a thumb stud and others come with a hole, similar to spyderco. Even the earlier ones with 440c steel held up good and took an edge real easy (at least mine did). The only complaint I have heard is the handles feel kinda cheap. After a while you don't even notice it. Hard to go wrong with just about any benchmade....

Thank you very much. You answered all my concerns perfectly! Thanks!
