Hi,
Im new to this forum, and sort of new to knives.

Im considering buying a Dragonfly G-10 as my EDC.
and was just wondering what other good options are there?

i want about a 2 inch blade. and compact.
locking blade.
higher quality.
about $150 limit.

ive considered the Cat, and Chicago too.

I have the original Dragonfly and LOVE it.
It is never not in my pocket, regardless of what else I may be carrying for the day.
The new one looks amazing, and the wire clip is an awesome improvement.

Spydie Chapparal?

There aren't many other companies doing higher end little knives. Kershaw has some that are pretty awesome, the chive for example, that are IMO more comparable to the frn d-fly. Buck also has a few models I think but am unsure.

Mr. Owl, if you do end up with the G10 Dragonfly I bet you will be happy with it. It will fit in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans. If you do clip it on a pocket, it does not have much ballast below the waterline (if that makes sense) so I'm a little afraid that mine will come out of my pocket without my consent. Aside from that, its a fine knife in all respects.

And distorted, just because I think its cool:

love the framelock on the Leafstorm, but the blade shape i dont like so much.
being able to choke up on the blade for a smaller folder seems ideal.

i was really considering a Chive, especially with the Damascus blade. but i dont like assisted opening.
and spyderco's just have such great function in my opinion.

that navigator is a beauty!

I had a spyderco chicago G-10, but it wasnt up to my standards.

ill be sure to check out what Buck has to offer.

and thanks for those pics noodle, it makes me want to get it even more now LoL.

It's not a fancy knife, doesn't cost much, the pocket clip is a little different, (looks like a wrench) and the blade steel is not as good as the Dragonfly but the Kershaw Half Ton is an amazing little knife regardless of the price. Smooth action, solid lockup, and I love the blade shape.

Spyderco balance in carbon fiber. It's just friggin' cool and actually pretty functional. It's one of those knives that cannot be appreciated until it is held and used.

ETA: Sorry, the balance is a bit under your 2 inch preference, but give it a look anyway.

i am a fan of the chive, i have a ss version. i dont use the pocket clip i just drop it in my pocket with my keys.

That would be my choice too. Spyderco makes a ton of smaller knives, all viewable on their website via the catalog option. As far as choking up on a 2" blade, it is a bit of an oxymoron. The knife is already very small and contopured to the hand. So long as you have digital dexterity maneuvering the knife for delicate cutting is more of a motor function than that of the knife itself.

thanks for all the great suggestions!

that boker Ti Subcom, im definitely getting too, along with the dragonfly.

the chive and scallion, ive considered for a long time. its hard not to like the damascus and framelock options.

I like the Al Mar S.L.B. It's my favorite little big knife and the only one I have a duplicate of.

Aside from that, as already mentioned: Spyderco Chapparal or Leaf Storm

+1 ^^^

People either hate it or love it. I belong to the latter.
