Anything I should know before ordering?

I have never ordered a new Busse before and from checking out the site it looks like the only options are handle color/material and blade finish.

However, I see lots of posts saying things like "I had them convex it" or "I specified a razor sharp edge". What kinds of things are they willing to do since all knives are built to order? Any recommendations?

I suck at sharpening knives, so I like them to come scalpel sharp so I don't have to worry about sharpening them, at least for a long time hopefully. Most of the time it seems I actually dull them.
 
When you call and order just ask for it to be extra sharp, if ordering the team gemeni you can also request it to be competition finish which is no coating. At no extra charge.
 
I came very close to ordering without knowing about the competition finish.
I really hope my TGLB comes with a super sharp convex edge,forgot to tell the wife to say something about that.
Anything else you want just be sure to ask.

Yeah I will definitely do that. I like convex edges for the strength they have.

I know lots of people like the naked blades because they don't stick in wood when chopping but I really like coatings especially considering the full tang. My sweat tends to be very corrosive and I have to spend extra time keeping that part cleaned/polished.

How about handle material? I have G10 on a lot of my gun grips but don't know anything about the "canvas" or "paper" options.
 
Depends on what you like, canvas is a more softer surface feel to it. I havn't got a paper one to compare but I like the canvas for a user better than g10 just a little. Either work well its really just personal preference.

I can believe that. Every G10 gungrip I've had is sharp and aggressive. I will probably go canvas then.
 
I like G10 myself.Paper to me does have more of a G10 feel to it.
When I bought my Boss Jack at Blade they even had a hard time telling if it was paper or black G10.
 
Changed my mind at the last minute.

I went Jungle Green/Black and Green G10 and asked for a convex edge and extra sharp.

Now the wait.............
 
I came close to going for the Green and black.It is a great combo.
Love it on my R9.

I also ordered a Rodent Rucki but they let you do it online so I didn't ask for anything special.

Just Tanker Grey/Green and Black G-10.
 
I have never asked for a special edge. I have had great and not so great. But I convex all my edged anyway. I don't care what edge it comes with as long as the bevels meet. I normally end up taking some shoulder offc and doing a polished convex. The cabs, bad, muck, ss, ash1cg all came with great edges. Others came used, so they were not factory.

Cabs and muck did not need any reprofiling at all, which is rare for me!

To meet my demands for "instant gratification" I just bought a few second hand to get them here now.

CGFBM arrived today and NMFBM should be in tomorrow.
