Anything new since the Carnie Cub and BM 721?

I've been gone for a while (again)... Last time I was in the loop, the REKAT Carnie Cub and Benchmade Tanto 721 Axis were probably the best "defensive" folders available at 3.5" or less--as long as linerlocks aren't invited. Has anything come along in the last few months to match them?

Does REKAT even still make my Carnie Cub? Does REKAT even still exist?

Good to see you back!:) I wish I had better news, but REKAT is out of business as of the past few months. I'm sure that parts must be available, though. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

As far as the "latest"--eeh gads! The knives keep coming out like crazy. MT has come out with a slick recurve in the 3.5" range made in the typical MT fashion "ala" Socom Elite, Kestral, etc. It's known as the Amphibian.

Good luck with the REKAT parts. It's possible that they sold their remaining stock to another company or dealer.

You should check out a Spyderco Lil' Temperance w/ either blade style. Incredibly well designed SD folder w/ the usual quality Spyderco manufacturing.

Shmackey,

Yup, it looks like REKAT has gone bye-bye :(. Their demise pissed-me-off so much that I NOW carry a Spyderco Chinook and an Endura or Native, while my REKATs languish in my "knife-drawer". If you haven't seen a Chinook yet, you might want to take a look at one, as it is one STOUT folder!
