Anything You Won't Use Your Sebenza For?

Hey guys, as I said in my other post regarding the Sebenza, I ordered my first last night.

Anyways, I was wondering if there's anything that you won't do with this knife. As far as work that you just simply won't use the knife for but may use others for. Other than the obviously prying, and stabbing a concrete block examples (Knife Tests excluded :D). I'm probably gonna really baby mine for a while to see what happens.

Anyways, I was just kinda wondering if there's things that the knife isn't strongly suited with, for instance the whole water thing, I've been informed that the S30V isn't the most resistant to water.

Sorry if it's a stupid question as I've been told in a few other posts where I've asked things, but I'm still fairly new to the high end knives and don't want to make any stupid mistakes.

It's pretty good in water. Just don't leave it outside overnight in the rain and it will last about forever. As for my usage the only thing I don't use it for is food. I've got a paring knife and chef's knife for that in the kitchen.

I will not be using by sebbie to fillet fish or chop wood.
After that its fair game....or dead game. Which ever comes first

I pretty much use mine for anything it's size is appropriate for. No prying, batoning, using as a scraper, screwdriver or step but it does everything else exceptionally well. My favorite knife hands down.

Like others have said: a Sebenza can handle anything that one can resonably expect a folder to handle - and then some! Use it, don't overly abuse it, and it'll give you many, many years of service.

No screwdrivering. Some dude in my office wanted to borrow my small Seb for that, and I stopped him in motion and asked if he had any common sense whatsoever. He admitted that he did not.

Professor.

My heart probably would have stopped.

Hi guys,

I just recieved my first Sebenza in a trade Monday and so far this knife has been in my pocket every day since. It is a small classic with ebony inlays and I love it. It came with a very sharp edge and is a very goodlooking knife also. I have wanted one for a long time but I did not know if it was really worth the money, well it is. I like this small one but I plan on buying a large one now also. The sebenza in my opinion is the best folding EDC knife I have ever owned and I dont see myself going to anything else.

Anytime someone asks to borrow my knife I always ask "what are you going to use it for" just to make sure they are not going to abuse it.

personally, I would not use a Seb, or any nice knife for that matter that I wouldn't use a Swiss Army Knife (SAK) for....unless that is all that I had, and I was out on an "adventure."

Dang, Paul, what's left- cleaning your fingernails? :D

Of course not Mike :D it can't handle that. I use my strider for cleaning my fingernails. And prying doors open. And in place of my jackhammer bits.

I really only use my sebenza for shaving my back when I don't have a SHBM around. It helps with my ropemaking hobby :p

I have used the Sebs for everything within reason..
It excells at skinning, Filleting, whittling - and yes, I have used it for light batonning & yes I even did a couple of test runs to see how one did as a throwing knife..

Do I abuse them on a regular basis - no - but I want to make sure if I only have one knife with me, it can handle what I would potentially need it for if necessary.

I have been using them for all these various chores for several years now (of couse the batonning has only been done a few times - have other knives for that ;) and the throws were just for kicks -have no intention of trying it again (since it passed with flying colors BTW)

I have heard (like everyone else) the hype of other Framelocks - and will suffice to say that the Sebs are the only ones I have left.- All the others are in somebody else's pocket now.

Sebs are awesome - rock solid, and can take a beating and yadda, yadda..

Oh yes - I forgot to mention, even after all my abuse the lock up is still as good as ever, there is nooooo blade play at all.

I plan to have one in my pocket every day - until further notice.

Just cause they are pretty, does not mean they are not tough as nails..

One last thought here - I had a couple other so called "hard use" knives that could not handle my idea of hard use/abuse whatever you may want to call it without blade play etc -so as far as I am concerned the Sebs are king in the realm of the folder as far as my needs go.

I don't have a Sebenza, but if I had one, I wouldn't use it to scrap dog poop from the treads of my shoes. I wouldn't use any of my knives for that.

Ha, ha. I never let people borrow my fine knives. There are no exceptions. I am sorry to say it but most people haven´t common sense when it comes to knives.

In regards to lending your knives out, I carry a small mic Seb and a large mic Seb, with a Victorinox huntsman. Guess which one gets loaned out?
