I wsa hoping to use our two burner gasser for a more controlled heat treat. You know, pipe inside for a muffle but the problem is (which is a big problem :jerkit:) our forge will not run below 3 psi(which is about 1700* Im guessing from the inside of the chamber, a full orange)..Any lower and it will start to sputter and stop. The flame just wont reach the bottom of the burner tube :grumpy: Without hooking up a pid controller rig (dont really want to since it is a atmospheric forge) any other way of running it at lower pressure...
Or with this design am I crap out of luck in running at low pressure??

What size orifice are you using? And have you tried choking it?

I dont really know the orafice size, its a two burner blacksmith model from diamondback ironworks..The orafice is actually a hole drilled in a pipe..A very, very small hole but unchangeable all the same...I havent tried choking it down though??

Well I went out to the shop and tried chking it down..Seems to work. I can run it at lower pressure and lower temps it seems..

Good stuff.... I was about to suggest the choke as well. My two burner Zoeller style runs at 1.5psi and with a muffle pipe setup, holds at 1500F. If you are interested, check it out.
