I received this as part of a passaround the details and post shennanigans are HERE

The passaround Anza 705 is a real workhorse. It amazes me what can be made from industrial files :)
In addition to doing succulent food cutting and boning, my recipes available upon request,
I used it to cut carpet, bush trimmings ..maybe they're called plants? ya know with flowers and vines and stuff. The blade is longer than I prefer in a carry. It IS a great kitchen knife tho. I also used it at work to cut rubber gasket material and it sliced thru the work with no sweat. :)

THE DETAIL IS REALLY UNDERSTATED. CHECK OUT THE SYMMETRY OF THE GRIND AND FILE LINES.

It is beautifully done!!

How do they do that? Must be experience or a very steady eye. Or maybe a jig holds it? The attention to detail is marvelous with the file lines filled in at the tang so it contrasts with the butt ugly scales.
Yes the handle is ugly but after a lot of thought I'll get one of the same size and with the same handle material. It is non skid. and for my use of it in the kitchen it's perfect. I'll be shipping it off coated in virgin olive oil to maintain the mediterranean look.

The Anza I bought is a palm knife and it is a lovely size for edc or packing around. The file lines are more slight due to the size of the file it's made from.

Did I say I like the file lines on the 705?

Ya sure Ya don't want a peek at the palm? Tom
ps I mustard patina'd my palm Anza and I really like the look.

I would like to see how the Mustard patina turned out :D

Ahh, TBG
You'll like how the patina accentuates the color and texture of the blade.
I plan to complete my photo light box before weekend's over.
Then I'll take some pics.

Here's part 2 of my testing process as reported in the passaround forum

"There's no end to the process of testing these passarounds.
I got off work @ 630am. I drove the 15 miles home.
While driving thru the magnificent hills of western Jersey. Corn fields
Horse farms
Cows
A deer pops in front of me and I hit him.
He goes flying in the air and is thrashing around a bit.
I have the Anza palm with me after the second mustard coat application.
A perfect time to see the cutting action thru hide.
I gotta tell you that this blade sailed thru the hide of a young button buck ~ 120 pounds. I slit his throat to quicken his passing.
The knife performed better than most knives I've used for deer. There have been no better!!

This Anza is some blade."

Y'all got deer in Jersey? Mutant deer from the pollution right? :D Ain't never heard of no deer hunting in New Jersey.

Did you hit this deer on purpose? a 120# button buck  I've taken 2 1/2yo 7 points that didn't weigh 140#

Tom if you hunt you may need to come down here and help us with the deer problem. I'm probably getting 125 acres near the house in addition to the club I'm joining.

If you like patinas then iffen you get one of my knives I'll leave a temperline on for ya :D

Ya wanna know or reaffirm how dumb I am.
Will, I saw your sig and thought AL was Alaska.
DUH!!!

Sure we have deer. In Northwest Jersey they do get nicely big. Lots of feed and such.LOTS of fat corn. Not like southern Jersey where there's nothin but acorn.
They're like vermin. Population is toooo hi.
We have most of the trooper calls responding to accidents and a goodly amount is deer hits.
Is 140# dressed in Bama?
I remember just before my divorce the wife hit a deer first hour of the first day deer season.
I went picked it up (mile or so)
Brought it home.
Had the kids in the neighborhood come over learn how to gut it and hung it from the swing set.
Dressed was ~ 65#
The town is 37 sq. miles...3700 people.
Nice country area.
Used to go Bow.

Now your handle makes so much more sense
badBAMAump.
I thought you were just homesick....

Yes to the temperline :0

Tom,
:p I hate to do this to ya....

*WARNING: A KNIFE IS A CUTTING TOOL, IT WILL CUT YOU! MISUSE OF A LEAVITT KNIVES KNIFE CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO THE USER OR BYSTANDER. PLEASE HANDLE CAREFULLY AND USE ONLY AS INTENDED.

:D ;)

Yeah, I took a 7pt last year that dressed at 140# or so. Course I've taken a doe that dressed at 120# or so also. I bow and gun hunt. All but one of the deer I took last year was between 15-40yds, furthest I took was 180m or so.

:D Cute safety warning

The best way I can thin the herd in Bama is to dive thru the state. I get more deer that way than freezin my tail off in a stand while it's sleeting and shivering so badly I drop an arrow every now and agin
:D
