ANZA knives opinions

I have a small one...I really like it, thought it was a great knife for the money. I bought mine from Anza directly, and was so impressed with how I was treated as a customer...even for buying around a 20 buck knife. When the little skinner arrived, it had an autographed pic with it from the maker, as well as a letter from the owner, telling me about the maker and about Anza in general. As for the knife, I really like it...good quality and workmanship, and really holds an edge well. I carry it quite a bit, mine is so small I usually just stick the sheath and all in a pocket.

They are ugly and the sheaths are also ugly BUT they are unbreakable. If for some reason you wanted to punch through a car door, it wouldn't affect your Anza. They also take a paper cutting edge. They tend to be a great value.

A friend bought one at a small gun/knife show a couple of years ago. I was very impressed at how it felt in the hand. Especially for the price. A small one is on my list of things to get this year. ;)

Anza has created custom-built knives for me twice, and I was thrilled with the results both times. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I like them, my first was in 90, model 713, a 4" hunter ($29 ?). It was my EDC while I renovated the house, pried, hacked and generally beat the crap out of it. Always cleaned right up and took a razor edge. For sentimental reasons it's one of my favorite knives.

My semi-retired EDC's, it's the bottom one.

I have a few, Charlie did a custom run for me (Model 4 JJ :D) of around 10 knives, It was a variation on the Model 4 with a narrower handle and a finger dip, it's a tank that complies with Colorado's 3 1/2" law. I sold/gave them to friends.

My daughter has an Anza stag handled mini Bodington in her purse !

They're real serviceable knives at a descent price. Charlie Davis is great to deal with, and treats his customers like family. I even won the monthly knife give away once. Showed up with my name etched on it.

It's takes a lot to hurt a shop file !

what do you think about them? heavy duty? well biuilt?

Hrm. What do I think about my 8 Anza knives. . .

I guess you could say I like them. ;-)

They're not the prettiest things, unless you're someone who appreciates a tool for it's functionality, over it's simple beauty. No mirror polishes, no fancy handles, no mosaic pins. They're very tough, well made, take a great edge, and are very easy to sharpen. They're simple, not fancy. Abuse them, and they just take it and keep working.

All in all, I think they're one of *the* best values available for a inexpensive, but quality, fixed blade knife. Also, their customer service is top notch. Every time I've dealt with them, I've had a very good experience.

Lastly, they'll do custom work to your specs, also. For the quality of the work on a custom knife, their prices are almost unbeatable.

I just want to reiterate this. Charlie Davis really is great to deal with. He's honest, fair, and he really does care about his customers. It's not just lip service.

I just trade for one and it comes up scary sharp, seems like a good knife for the price. I'll definitely pick up another one.
