Anza Knives

:cool: Recently purchased an Anza knife that arrived today. It's a medium sized hunter with a 2-1/4 inch blade with full tang sticking out back of handle. Made from a bastard file, so is of high carbon content. Should make a good EDC-utility knife. Any experience with Anza and it's quality etc?? Sorry, I don't have any pictures.

Good knives. Sharp, well thought designs and meant to be used. Very well priced compared to other handmades.

Charlie Davis used to work at Buck before he left to start Anza, his place was taken by Paul Bos -so you can be certain that Charlie understands steels, hardness and how to make them sharp.

The only thing you need to watch out for is rusting because Anza knives have a lot more surface area than 'smooth' blades. I use wax because it stays in place.
 
Thanks for the feedback. It came hair shaving sharp with an extremely stout leather sheath. I think it's time to go to the woods and try it out.

The only thing I would add is even the sheaths I have seen are decent for the price. :)
 
Hey Natural-Outlaw,

I use Renaissance Wax, but then I like to throw my money away sometimes. Any good paste wax like Johnsons or a good car wax will work fine (if it can protect your car v. outdoors...). If you have problems working the wax between the file teeth, try warming the blade or use a hair-dryer.

Thanks brother for the tips on the wax. I kinda fugured a good car wax, but was wondering if you knew something even better. I had in fact thought about the wax in the file grooves; heating up is a good idea--Wish I'd thought of that---seems so simple.
I used the knife to do some carving of pear wood and it slices and holds an edge very, very, well. Over the last 15-yrs or so I've used Mora's and Finnish knives for sheath knives, but this Anza with it's high ground bevel almost rivals them in quality.:thumbup:
