Big ups to all the Aussie / Kiwi crew today.

For those who have bravely gone before us.

Lawrie

A Salute to our Brave Down Under Brothers on this solemn day.

Mike

Have to admit my ignorance on this day-Looked it up and WOW! Thanks to our Aussie and Kiwi Brothers-As American's we owe them A lot! Thank You

My Australian Grandmother lost all of her Brothers in the great wars. I have the greatest respect for those individuals from Australia and New Zealand who stepped forward and fought (and still fight) evil around the world.

Thanks for the thread Loz!!!

I'm not Australian, but I did serve in the Marines.

To those who went before us, to those who went with us, and to those who'll go behind us. Here, here.

I urge all to research the history of the ANZAC. These men fought in some of the worst conditions with nothing but bravery and honor. I salute my brethren down below and thank them for there service.
God speed!!!

"When you go home
Tell them of us and say
For your tomorrow
We gave our today"

Agreed-As an American I did not know the history of this day, Hope we continue to have allies such as these Brave Men and woman!!!
God speed!!!

Tell them of us and say
For your tomorrow
We gave our today"[/QUOTE]

If anyone likes reading and would like to learn about how the ANZAC legend began, Les Carlyon wrote an excellent book called 'Gallipoli'.

that is an excellent book. What many don't realise (outside Australia) is that Gallipoli, as a military exercise, was a complete failure and utter waste of life. What it did was bind a very young nation (Australia was 13 years old at the time) and show the spirit and metal of the people. That is what we honour and remember, not the battles won or lost, but the lives lived of the men and women that were lost.
