i just received my kershaw rainbow leek

my first AO knife

first thing i notice is: it is way too dangerous to carry with safety off
(i carry it to my body, clip hiding behind a belt)

safety on seems a bit a waste of the fast AO mechanism
so i was wondering, how do you guys carry your AO knives?
safety on/safety off and how??

i am currently practicing opening the safety first and then the knife with the same hand, as this is perfectly possible and with a bit of practice should go extremely fast.

I have carried a Kershaw Leek in my pocket for awhile and never had any problem with it going off.

One time I had a minor problem with a Blur where it went off one time, but it was my fault because I was messing with it a little while it was in my pocket :foot:

I agree, the safety function is a little pointless to the AO's purpose... which is why I don't use it.

On a side note, carrying tip-up seems to help for me, in cases like the Leek where you can switch it around.

I carry my leek safety off but tip up so that if it does open it goes right into the seam of my front pocket.

I carry my Leek clipped to my right pocket, tip up, w/ the safety locked off. Never had a problem.

I also carry a mini-cyclone tip up IWB. No safety.

Just be aware of what you're doing and what the knife is doing.

That's why I don't carry one.

I used to have several AO's and sold most of them.

They are a lot of fun and often pretty cool but I didn't like the idea of a possible unintended opening, nor did I like the idea that the knife might not
open when I really needed it.

So I've kept a few and use them around the house.
Sometimes in winter I'll carry them in the pocket of a heavy coat.

I really like the Benchmade Nitrous Stryker and the Buck Tempest in 154CM.
Also the original Camillus Heat, the Kershaw Speed Bump in black aluminum, and the CRKT Hissatsu.

The only Kershaw AO I have is the Tyrade. But since I like a tight pivot, cause I'm anal as hell thats why;):D, I don't worry about accidental firings.

I've carried a Kershaw Blackout (no safety) on a daily basis clipped to my pocket for about a year. Never had a problem. I also carried my Leek with the safety off for about 3 months and never had a problem.

I have alot of faith in Kershaws products.

I've been carrying my Leek on and off as an EDC for a long time now without the safety.

I never had any problems with it going off accidentally, tip-up in my front pocket.

I have EDC'ed a leek a bunch.
Tip down
Safety removed
Right front pocket
Never a problem with accidental firing
