My beloved Becker blades have been neglected now that I have an office job and living in an apartment. No more running out to the farm to check the fence row. No more bumming around in the woods. I can't even carry my BK9 to work anymore....
Just the other week, the BK9 was wanting to go outside and play in the snow, but I had to tell it no since APPARENTLY the neighbors may have problems with the two of us processing wood in the parking lot.

I felt bad for them, so I decided to treat my BK11 to a new wrap.

I decided to swap out my trusty OD cord for some shiny new orange...

I debated on leaving it bare, just like the old days.

After a little prodding from the Remora, I went on and re-wrapped the BK11 in orange. I think it's pretty happy with it's pampering this afternoon.

Any other ideas to keep these guys happy while they are all cooped up in here? I think we may have to go on an outing here soon before we all go nuts.

I'm sure your 9 would love to help you process dinner. Ribs perhaps?

Great pictures. Your 11 looks great in orange.

We moved 6 months ago to another state from rural farmness and into an apartment. I'm just now getting my friends out to play again. I have had a few fires in the chimnea in the snow that the king helped with! Spring is coming and I'm going to the woods by gosh!

You could do some carving with your Remora or Eskabar, Dubz does some pretty cool stuff! I empathize with you, I lived in apartments from age 19 to 23, finally live in a house and can at least take them into the backyard to help with gardening.

That's sucks Jerry. However, we have already established that you are only a hr. away up 65 from me. When the wheather get a little nicer you should throw a couple of growlers of Sun King in your car along with your Beckers and head out for a day of knife play with myself, Murph, and Diesel D. Whadda ya say to that?

Hey Jerry.....

I say take Todd up on his offer but, in the mean time, buy a cheap pair of anvil pruners and "help" the landscaping crew by harvesting a few 1/2 & 3/4 dia. branches and put down an old sheet and make traps and other stuff inside.....It is very convenient "dirt time" and it allows you to hone skills that will pay dividends when the dirt is real and not carpet.....If you have a fireplace practice your firemaking there.......I do that every morning using a BK 11 or 16 ........Makes one match fires almost automatic...... Spring has almost sprung, so practice up......

All Best.....

I feel ya brother. I just moved from the country to the city recently. I'm lucky enough to live in a house with a huge garden in the back yard but no more EDCing my bk15 for sure and I don't have any more trails to blaze with my Beckers behind me!

I feel your pain, brother. I have to hide knives and guns when going to my car in my "community".

Damn urban living......it sucks.

I whipped out a Candiru the other day in whole foods to cut my bagel and got one of "those" looks from a lady sitting next to me. What?? Am I supposed to cut it with one of their plastic knives?? Give me a break....I wish I had my bk9 on me that day. She would have fainted...

I cried a bit looking at your 9 longing for the outside
You and me both...

Sounds like a plan to me! My Twisted Crew growler is looking awful empty and sad too. I'm also hope to go out and get lost somewhere in Brown Co. when the weather gets better.

Traps aren't something I've tried my hand at yet, but have wanted to learn. That is a great idea! I foresee spending a few evenings after work on the balcony setting up traps now. :D
There are a few grill pits that I have my eye on come better weather. The garage below the apartment is available still. I'm debating on checking on the monthly rent on it and setting up a small shop of sorts to do some tinkering.

Do you ever get the, "Do you play guitar?" comments?

It's sad when you can no longer use your knives

I do run a knife sitting service, if you feel they are being neglected then send them to me and I will see they get a work out

It's one of these

They have an adhesive that glues them to whatever you stick them to.

I like that....good for IWB carry? Maybe it would break the adhesive because of all the stress....hmmm

That's funny. I use my Candiru around the office, because the ladies seemed to be uncomfortable when I had the BK14 or a large-ish folder out. I consider it my office friendly knife.

Jerry, I know what it's like. I've been renting for the last 12 years. Fortunately, the guy I'm renting from now is of the same mindset as me, so the back yard is free game for any sort of skills practice. At any rate, Ethan's advice is good. It's been really cold lately and I may have to go harvest some branches for some practice time inside.
