From the movie Apocalypse Now, can anybody identify the knife that Martin Sheen has when he leave the boat for the last time to kill Brando?

I noticed in a different scene there appears to be a plum (maybe?) SOG lying next to Brando's bed.

I'm sure there's somebody out there who knows.

Cheers.

Capt. Willard (Sheen) has a SOG knife when he leaves the boat....which he probably lifted from Col. Kurtz's quarters because you see it there in an earlier scene. At no point before do you see Willard with the knife.

I have seen the 6 hr workprint of Apocalypse and in this, Willard uses this SOG knife to dispatch a sentry or two before actually getting to Kurtz....who he kills with some type of Montagnard bolo.

There were some pretty cool extra scenes that should have been left in the movie....like the photographer (Hopper) being killed by the Green Beret (cant remember his name, but he was the one who went to kill Kurtz before Willard and then joined him) and then Willard, in turn kills this dude with a Tokarev pistol.

Hope this helps.

Wow... I really think that would be awesome to see. Apocalypse is one of my favourite movies. The six hour workprint, sure, might get a little boring, or too long, in parts, but I think it would still be intense. :D

I'd never really noticed the SOG before... now I'll have to watch it again :)

Arrrrrgh.., 6 hours of any movie is too much for me :).., great information though.., thanks!

The regular release of Apocalypse Now was one of only two movies which have actually bored me to sleep in a theater.

SIX HOURS OF IT? Just shoot me.

Willard has another knife on his belt in the earlier scenes when they do meet Killgore and his cavalry troops. It has a shiny pommel and guard, sheath is seemingly fastened to the thigh with a thong. The SOG comes into play only later, after he is disarmed by Kurtz.

Could that be a General or a Randall ? The prop master was surely accurate, considering the Nam Seiko diving watch on his wrist.

PS :
I just checked my copy, it is definitely a long Buck. Could not get the snapshot right, a few frames later would have been a better chance.
