Hi gang!
Last month or so, I made my proud purchase of a Becker BK9 knife. I used it a ton for choppin' and splittin' wood for campfires and have completely fell in love with this knife. No more hatchets for me!
I've since then upgraded my sheath with an Apocalypse Gear BK9 Sheath due to its sleek looks and some badass images on Apocalpyse Gear's website.
I purchased a premade one in Forest Green, so i didn't have to wait the several weeks it takes to fulfill an order. What i received was slightly different than the pics, namely the brand of pouch and how its mounted, along with how the kydex is shaped (the bottom of the sheath is narrower). None-the-less, it's still an awesome sheath and came with the following:
-leather belt loop
-large tek lok
-"Light my fire" firesteel
-Kydex loop for the firesteel
-ESEE accessory pouch and Survival Tin Can (empty)
The kydex sheath itself is handsomely made and much smaller than the stock sheath of the BK9. It is a Taco style sheath, with a drain hole and a slotted cutout to accommodate the BK9's thumbramp. The accessory pouch is mounted on a piece of kydex, which is then mounted to the sheath. I've since added a parachord leg loop and wrapped a bit of parachord on the sheath to make it match its website counterpart.
One notable feature is its customizability in how you can mount it. The leather belt loop and tek lok are both mounted to a kydex backing. This allows you to have several different configurations. Its default is a leather belt loop to wear the knife on your side, and the tek lok on the back, in case you want to scout carry it. I tried a few different options, including removing the leather loop and mounting the tek lok in its place. In the end, i opted to keep the belt loop where it was, and since i rarely scout carry, took the tek lok off to reduce weight and bulkiness.
After breaking in the kydex by unsheathing and sheathing it about 100 times, along with some silicon lube and Armorall spray, the BK9 unsheaths/sheaths damn smoothly. I was concerned that the lack of a thumb ramp would be an issue, but i found pushing the handle forwards a little, and resting the thumb on teh side of the kydex, allowed for easier deployment. You can see that in this video of me unsheathing/sheathing the BK9:

Dealing with AG's owner, Jonathon, was also a pleasure. I've seen reviews where it could be complicated due to lack of communication, but I believe that was an issue of too much demand, little supply, and the inability to scale adequately to meet those demands. I believe they changed their process a lot now; AG/Jonathon was very responsive through emails and i received my sheath within a week.
Overall i really REALLY like this sheath and can't wait to field test it in the upcoming months. It is expensive, being at $120, but I believe you get what you pay for. It's a huge upgrade from the stock sheath and i wouldnt hesitate to buy another one from Apocalypse Gear.
Pros:
+Sleek looking sheath which accomodates BK9's thumbramp
+firesteel loop
+Accessory Pouch
+the ability to customize how you want to wear your sheath
Cons:
-was very tight in the beginning but it broke in over time.
^In above picture, you can see the black backplate. This was where the tek lok was mounted.
ps: there's so little reviews on this product that i felt i had to share. hopefully it'll help inform people and save them some time searching or wondering. I know for me, i had wished there were more reviews, but alas
