we worked out a trade last week, i rec'd his knife within a couple days. mine was sent the same day as his, but the contents were somehow 'lost' and the box sent to some kind of damaged package storage bin. nevertheless i am going to send back his knife.

i already posted in gbu forum, so wont get into a rant about the shipping co.

just wanted to say 'sorry' for the hassles in public to briggz. hope we can do business in the future.

what model was the lost knife and could you identify it if you saw it? maybe it will show up eHog or the for sale forums?

Say it ain't so!!! That's why I only use USPS. I have had no "lost" packages ...yet!

While I haven't "lost" any packages thru the Post Office, I've had several that were torn to bits when I received them, including my lastest package from Wauseon.. It looked like a monkey got it hands on the box! :grumpy:

experience shapes opinion. the only problems i have had with shipping, as far as damage/loss have been with fedex. i think usps still uses pony express sometimes, but has been reliable for me.

i even had a fedex driver park behind me one time and refuse to move.

I have had USPS loose an AD only to find it the following day. Otherwise they have done pretty good by me. Plus, I insure pretty much all my Busse knives that go to and fro.

Sorry to hear about your loss bro. Hopefully something will turn up.

a few of you brought up a good point, i will be watching the auction sites. manufacture date was april 29, 2003. anyone know if there is only one knife per date? anyway here is a pic:

I think there's more than one knife per date, but I still think the odds of you losing a knife and one just like it with the same birthday turning up by coincidence are probably very slim. Good idea. If you see a knife with that date for sale soon it's probably yours.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about the loss... I will help ya keep an eye out on eBay for it. Since you have the paperwork, I'll ask the seller of any that I see where their papers for the knife are.
I also collect autographed photos... have a bunch and bought about a 3rd from reputable sellers on eBay over several years ago with only 1 or 2 probs from USPS, UPS, & FedEx. Nothing was ever 'lost', only several damaged... Some people say that if you put insurance on a package, it's like placing a 'steal me first' sticker on it, but I say even though it suxx to lose the item, the cash returned goes a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way toward helping you to get over it. Seriously. I'm sure you know this! I always ship insured if the value is more than 25 bucks, or irreplaceable. Also... insured packages occasionally disappearing over time while enroute from, or to certain locations do cause patterns which usually will finally expose a thief, or the problem by the company's own investigation unit. Uninsured packages? USPS will pretty much hang up on ya the second you say 'no' in response to the question of 'Is it insured?". I think it's worth it for peace fo mind and hope that ya insured THIS package.
Again, sorry Brother! I'll keep an eye out for it.

I know things happen and I am not to worried about dealing with you in the future. Mark, real damn sorry you lost your knife and hopefully it will "turn up" somewhere.

I believe that Mark is an honest man and would never hesitate too do business with him again. Everyone keep an eye out.

Mark, it might be a good idea to put another post and picture with that
b-day card over in the CRK forum as well. I know I'll keep my eyes open for that Sebbie that went a stray!

best of luck with the final results!

and I have to blame Jerry. If he would just go ahead and come out with the folder then I would not have traded Mark the GW for the Sebbie.

Jerry, what do you plan to do about the error? Correct your mistake, put up the folder for sale. Mark gets #1 I will take #2.

Thanks,

Bill
