so a few month ago i posted this thread about me being disappointed with my NMFSHCG:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-t-know-how-to-use-my-NMFSHCG?highlight=SAB13

last week i had a chance to put all your good advice to use, and now i know just how great this knife is (sorry- no pictures)
went to the woods, found some old dry trees i was sure will be very hard to cut, the NMFSHCG chopped through it with no problems at all

i learned to love this knife

only thing is- i got a blister so now i think i night need to get me some of those gloves i keep seeing people use- any advice? what gloves do you use? pictures will be good

and thanks for all the good info you all gave on my other thread, lets drink :very_drunk:

During my apprenticeship my crusty old journeyman insisted that I not wear gloves, to toughen me up. You hands will toughen up eventually, but some tighter work gloves will save you pain / scars in the long run! Keep an eye out for those tight cotton gloves with rubber palm sides on them. You'll still be able to pick up smaller items and they'll save you from a few cuts / scrapes. Just don't wear gloves when there's rotating machinery around!

I consider my hands to be pretty tough. I still get blisters during long chopping sessions so I try to use whichever gloves is handy. I tend to use those "gardener" gloves.

Nice to hear that you had a good time out in the wilds. Those things are chopping machines.

Go gloveless it will pay off in the long run
today at work the skin on the palm of my hand got caught in a full lock in vise grips, it hurt bad but when I finally pryed the vice grips off ( using my left hand and my teeth, as my right hand was busy ;) to my surprise I had no damage at all no bruise no nothing, the thick callous on my hands absorbed the attack , the only thing that was able to penetrate my armor lately was the point of a razor sharp busse sjtac

My hands have become fairly rough over time however I am still not gonna grab skin with a vice grip. Sounds painful.

Have you looked at Mechanix Wear gloves? They offer a wide range of styles for many applications. I've used them a lot for shooting, but I would think that they would also work well for handling a Busse!

Another one for gloveless. Also keep using it to maintain the toughness of your skin.
