I have made available scans of knives for wallpaper with a Blue background.
Apparently the late James Mattis did this with blue backgrounds .
This has brought back bad feelings for some people and for this I am sorry. In no way was this intended.
New Scans will be going up as soon as possible with a different background.
If there is something special you would like please let me know and I will try to accommodate.

You're kidding, right? James used the blue background because it worked the best. I miss his presence as much as the rest of the people here, but to ask you to not use the best background for a scanned picture is silly. Maybe a small statement of remembrance on each scan would be appropriate and might pacify those who feel that the results of James' trial and error shouldn't be used on this forum.

That being said, I wish we still had him here with us. He is missed.

It's not like you're using nuclear secrets. James made no secret of how he would get such great scans, and often suggested people try his method.

This isn't mourning, this is silly. James also used a PC and Internet Explorer to access Bladeforums. Maybe I need to get an iMac and Opera.

Sorry if I'm being insensitive, but this is a bit much for me, especially before I've had my coffee.

I concur with all above. This is a little silly! Yes James used a blue background, a different blue, but blue none the less.

Yes, I followed your link and saw the scans. Yes, I did think of James when I saw them. That is fine. It is not the first time I have thought of James, and it will not be the last. I enjoy thinking about James, even though it makes me sad.

Keep the scans, keep the blue backgrounds. I am not offended.

Mike

P. S. Nice scans! Thanks

MNH

This is just plain silly. I can't see why anyone would be offended by what you did. If anything, it should bring back good memories.
Personally, I'd like to thank you for making the pictures available.

Yep, same feelings here. This really is silly. James did lot's of great scans, and he was getting better at it all the time. Many times he explained how to get the best results to people who wanted to know. He didn't keep any trade secrets... so I don't think that he would be offended about anybody using any technics he used.
Besides, if seeing a scan of knife with blue fabric background reminds us about James, then let's all scan with blue backrounds!

Hugo.

There is nothing to apologize for. I didn't know him well but from what I do know, James would want you to use the fruits of his labor in the best possible way. Keep up the good work and James would be pleased.
