Hello all,

Can someone please tell me what to use to colour apoxy resin (Devcon) for handle slabs. I would like to make the colour black to fill in some file work.

Does the colour weaken the bond?

thanks Jamie.

i used testers model paint wal-mart sales it -only takes a small amount
i couldnt detect any adverse affects . bb

I used some Tester's from Walmart once, and the Devcon was softer than usual. I may have used too much! TKM sells epoxy dye. JB Weld is dark gray

Lampblack.
Run a candle close under a piece of glass or steel, then scrape the soot into a pile and add the epoxy...

K&G has a color additive for epoxy, but you could probably use dry tempra paint like they use in elementary schools. Add it in after mixing and you got color. I like to use it when I'm using colored spacer material, good luck !!!

I use a fiberglass resin coloring agent that comes in a small tube that I get at an auto body supply store. It doesnt take much, just a pin-head size amount to do your handles.............John

Try carpenter's chalk, the type used for chalklines. It's cheap and one bottle will last a lifetime. I use black and red usually, but there are many different colors. Even flourescent green and orange. Works well.

I started off using paint tint from the local hardware store, works really well just a bit messy to handle.
I'm using K&G's colorants now, dry type, and they're excellent.

I wish I'd thought of the carpenters chalk though, that sounds really good.

Sorry for the slow reply. Thanks for some very good tips.
I have some black carpenters chalk in the shed, would never have thought to use it in appoxy

Jamie.
