In preparation for a move I've been cleaning out closets and drawers for the past few weekends. I came across a trunk from back in my college days (quite a few years ago). After digging through for several minutes and reminiscing about the past I came across my old college EDC. This was bought long before I knew anything about Rick Hinderer or even about knives in general. When I removed the knife from its long time resting place it struck me that it is remarkably similar to my Hinderer XMs. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my current 3.5 spanto EDC and I couldn’t believe my eyes! I immediately went to my laptop and searched for Gerber / Hinderer collaboration knives and found that it is in fact collaboration between the two. It’s funny, I am a Hinderer fanatic now and I forgot all about this knife that had been sitting under my nose for the last decade. Apparently I have always been a Hinderer guy at heart. :)

Yes that would be much better than a $15 Walmart special! Haha.

I had a zt-560 and a zt-550. They were good knives and saw alot of use. Once I handled an XM they were on the exchange within a day. Haha.

By any chance do you have a Cryo? Some side-by-side images of that with the Gerber might be neat to share.

No I'm whittled down to hinderers, a tad, and this gerber. That would be cool to compare though.

Okay thanks, I remember the Gerbers from the 70's great quality then, never came across this Hinderer colaboration thanks for sharing.

So funny man my buddy had this on him for yeeears...i needed to use his blade quick last week and went thru the same thing as you. I took one look and said...waaait a minute...flip blade over..."rick hinderer design"

My buddy had no clue, and since hes so jealous of my XMs, hes way more proud to carry that gerber now lol. I got a kick out of it. Great little blade for the money, its quite popular, alot of my blue collar customers are rockin that thing. Way to go rick...hittin everyone! ;)

I think its called the Torch.

Torch is different. Firestorm is similar but I'm unsure what exactly the posted one is. I've never been a big fan of Geber stuff...not saying anything negative, just not a brand I follow closely.

Then again, it could be in the "torch series"... Like I said, I don't follow that brand too closely.

Think I found it...Gerber Torch 1. Also available in all black and some with serrations and such.

Looks like Rick designed several models for them. I was aware but never took the time to educate myself on these collaborations. But Rick's been in the game for 25+ years, there's a lot of his influence out in the knife World.
