Apple iCloud and music

I have been getting several emails from Apple, requesting that I purchase more iCloud space for my iPhone 6s. I have 64gb on my phone, and about 235 songs, and maybe a couple thousand photos in my photo library. I had downloaded my music library to my iPhone and iPod. Today at work I went to play music on my phone, and I received a prompt that I needed to be connected to the internet. I never needed that before, so I figured it was an issue with the iCloud storage. iCloud storage is unavailable to view etc. Now I'm pissed. I'm paying Verizon to use this device, I've been getting carrier settings prompts for the past couple weeks. I use my iPod device just for music, and don't want to get the same prompt, and find out my music library isn't there the next time I use it. Any ideas?

Looks like a common problem. I was able to restore access to iCloud, but it seems like Apple Music deletes offline music from your iPhone or iPad.
