Apple laptop - how to post pictures?

I'm almost embarrassed to ask, because I'm pretty sure it's easy to do, but here goes .............

How do I get pictures I've taken, that are stored on my laptop (Apple MacBook), moved over here to post to a thread on BladeForums?

Please do NOT treat me as a 3rd grader, because I'm SURE a 3rd grader WOULD ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO THIS!! ;)

DO treat me as a techno-challenged 60 year old, 'cause that's what I am! (In other words, please walk me through it step-by-step). :D

I've got some great new knives coming, and I want to be able to show them off!

Thanks!

you have to upload them to a third party website, i use photobucket, once you upload it you click on the picture and you then copy the URL from the picture assuming you are using photobucket. when you are ready to post you click on the post a picture icon. you then click paste. easy as 1 2 3. :D it took me awhile to figure it out as well.

You can link to pictures from a Photo hosting sight as gundude73 said, and you can also attach pictures to your own post since you are a Gold Member. :) Here's how:

Step 1: Make sure photo is 800x600 or smaller and under 100KB file size
Step 2: start a new post or thread
Step 3: click the paperclip icon "attachments"
Step 4: Browse for the photo you want and click on it
Step 5: Click upload
Step 6: repeat as needed. can attach 5 images per post

You can finish there or add more photos to your post. You can also create a link in your post to the pictures you just attached so they apear full sized instead of thumb nails. Heres how to do that:

Step 7: while the Manage Attachments window is still open find the link to the picture you just attached and copy it.
Step 8: Click the "Insert image" button and past the address you just copied into it.
Step 9: repeat as needed.

Here's a picture I just uploaded to my post using my directions. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys!

THIS IS A TEST - PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE ACTUAL PICTURE THAT I'M ABOUT TO TRY TO POST!!!

I think it worked! That's what I was looking for - a way to post directly from my laptop, rather than going through a 3rd party such as Photobucket.

I may be back later with some "Apple specific" questions. The above posted pic was taken from the built in camera on my laptop a few months ago, NOT from the pictures I have taken with my digital camera, which are in a different "photo" part of my computer.

Much thanks for helping an oldster! :D

Great to know! Thank you! When I clicked on the "thing-a-majig" (highly technical terminology ;)) to see what pics were available to choose from, the only ones that were an option, or accessible, were the ones taken from the built in camera. How do I get to the point where I can access the pics that were downloaded to my laptop from my digital camera?

Thanks again - didn't know I could get my knife AND my computer questions answered all at the same site! This is GREAT! :D

that is what i was saying before.

1st you take the picture
2nd you put it on your computer
3rd you upload it to a 3rd party, ie photobucket
4th you get the URL for the specific picture and copy it
5th you have your post ready
6th you click on the post a picture link (it looks like a mountain 2nd row, third from the right)
7th a window will open, i click delete because it gives you the http:// you then click copy. then you click ok.
8th repeat as needed.

yay for fiddlin with the thing a ma jiggy button!:D

I'll tell ya - it's tough growing up in the dark ages and suddenly being thrust into the ........... real world, I guess! ;)

Now I just have to experiment and learn how to get good close-up photos of knives!

Thanks for the help, guys!

No offense, but your wife is way better looking than you are! :)

Seriously, I've been using a Mac since 1994. PM or email me if you have any more questions. We Mac users have to stick together.

Hey, no argument on who is better looking! Besides, I was having a bad hair day! ;) Ya, ya I know -- what hair?

Thanks for the invite for a PM or email!

Well, this thread resonates because I just got an iMac. Will see if I can post up a pic... stay tuned.
