Applegate-Fairbairn Handle Deterioration

I have an Applegate-Fairbairn Commando style knife that has been stored at a moderate temperature in the original box ever since I bought it. The other day I noticed that the rubber is cracking out around the hollow bushing through the handle. Has anyone else noticed a similar problem? Is there any known repair that will prevent further deterioration?

That sucks. Don't know who made your model or whether it's fixed/folder, but either way, why not contact the manufacturer and exchange it for a new one? If they stand by their product, it's the least they can do, no?

I will bet money that one was made by Blackjack...

The Lexan handles were fragile. Most cracked at the thong hole.

One reason the good Colonel canceled his contract.

So much for that "unconditional Lifetime warranty", huh?

Anthony, it is a Blackjack and the lexan cracked at the thong hole. Can I save it by filling the ever-enlarging cracks, or have I bought a nice paperweight?

Epoxy works fine. It will never "look" right though..

For a user buy the Boker. Its a much better knife. The AF was not one of Blackjack's best efforts.

Thank you. I have ordered a Boker from Blowout Knives and will repair the BJ with epoxe as you suggest. The best part is, I can use the old sheath on the new knife. Many thanks, again.
