Appleseed Shoots

I bought me the latest copy of Shotgun News today and happened to read about the "Appleseed" shoots in the Fred's M14 Stocks section, specifically about Texas coming in second to quarter-population sized Indiana in number of participants. For those unfamilar with them, appleseeds are basically weekend shooting classes designed to train shooters in becoming an "expert" at the traditional Army Qualification Test and thus promote marksmanship in America.

I checked it out on the web and found one scheduled for the weekend June 2-3 near Bloomington, IL. I see it as a valuable opportunity to improve my shooting in the company of good people. I finally got me an M1 Garand a month or so ago, so its definitely going with me, along with my Enfield. In the meantime, I'll have to order some AQT targets to start off.

Has anyone here ever attended one of these Appleseeds? Here a link to the upcoming ones.

Look out for any kind of political agenda in those, Bob. In the case of Fred, I could be wrong, but the "Learn to shoot, because the (fill in imagined enemy) is comin'!" crowd makes every gun owner look like a nut. There are some people with guns who scare me, and it isn't because they own guns.

Graduate of NRA instruction here. ;)

I went to the first one in NC back in Feb.

Great day of shooting, best day of shooting instruction I ever had.

I once was an 11B with the EIB. I wish I had had such training while in the Army

A few good "talks" on 2nd amendment stuff.

Nothing radical, and nothing at all over the top, or unsavory, IMHO.

Unless one finds a historical, literal view of the 2nd amendment unsettling...

Let us know how you like it!
