Hey guys,
I got a CRKT PECK recently, tore it down to give it a good cleaning and then when I put it back together, everything got loctited (clip screws, stud, and pivot). Only problem is that whatever I try to get loctite on the pivot threads some always manages to sneak out and get between the pivot and blade.
First attempt was loctite on male threads (only bottom half of threads). Some snuck out.
After it set up, tried the blade, it was sticking to the pivot, so took out the pivot, cleaned the pivot hole, the pivot pin, and all the threads, and tried attempt 2, which was putting a drop of loctite in the female pin, and then screwing in the male part clean.
Still managed to screw up.
Most recent attempt was a half-drop in the female pin, then clean and dry the top two threads of the female part using a Q-tip, and then screw it it (this way the loctite wasn't near the top of the pin). Still some managed to escape.
Normally a little escaping on a folder isn't a problem because of the top scale, but since the PECK doesn't have a top scale, I'm stumped. I've got a beautiful little folder that I've done a Krein-style regrind on, and I can't get the damn pivot to stay put. I've got it assembled with no loctite on the pivot for now, but it's not a great solution since I don't want the pivot backing out with use. But the blade opens nice and smooth this way.
HELP!
