Lurking in your forums was tremendously helpful to me in my decision to purchase a Kershaw 1660TGRYST for EDC. Now I have another favor.

Would someone mind explaining to me, using words intended for someone who is not very bright and is very likely to mess it up, the exact process for breaking down the knife and applying Loctite blue in the appropriate places.

Keep in mind...I'm dense.

I'm planning to order this Loctite:

and this bit set

unless one of you tells me otherwise.

Your help is much appreciated.

Is there any reason you are applying loc tite? Normally only the blade pivot needs loc tite and that is if the blade develops play over time. It just prevents the pivot screw from working itself loose. I wouldn't take apart the knife just to apply loc tite and would wait for it to need it as it probably came from the factory with some.

If you are in the US and have a Home Depot close by they should have blue loc tite and a Husky Torx driver that includes 4 bits for a total of 8 sizes. I have a couple and they are quality bits and are lasting great. I have twisted out multiple Craftsman bits in the smaller sizes but no problems with the Husky.

Edit: its not that hard to apply loc tite. Just take out a screw by turning counter clockwise, apply a small amount of loc tite to the first couple threads and screw it back in and snug it up. After you do one move to the next so that nothing gets out of alignment. Once all screws have been done let the knife sit over night so it can dry. When you do the pivot I like to over tighten the pivot screw so the blade is hard to open then slowly back the screw out a couple degrees at a time. Open the blade and wiggle the knife blade horizontally to check for play. There will be a sweet spot where there is no play yet the blade opens easily. A couple degrees can be the difference between blade play and a stiff blade.

Your loc tite link doesn't work but I use Permatex brand medium strength threadlocker blue color.

I use the blue Loctite, but keep in-mind that you need to use very little of it...You don't need to coat the whole screw with it...Just 3 or 4 threads 3/4 of the way down from the top of the threads of the screw will do the job.
