The FedEx truck just brought me my stick of Veritas honing compound, the green kind, and a single sided leather strop. I was wondering the best way to apply the compound? I liberally rubbed the stick on the leather and proceeded to strop some of my already sharp knives. It seemed to work, but it doesn't seem to spread very well. Does it apply, even if you don't see the green color on the leather? Should I have done something to the leather first? The instructions did not indicate that I should have. I would imagine that over time, it gets better and better. Liken this to diamond hones, they need a break in period as well. I would appreciate some feed back, and I have already read the Veritas Compound thread that appeared about a week ago, in case you were wondering.
