Hi,Can anyone tell me the approximate date of manufacture of my 110?On the blade it only says Buck 110 USA with NO dots or other marks. There are also only 3 pins thru the scales.Any information would be helpful and appreciated.

I would say before 1974 as the two dots were added from 1974-1979(?). But will acquiesce to others here that will know more.

Vinny

PS: Look at Sticky at top of forum for "Revised Data Sheet" the info will be in there.

Dirt, Welcome . I'm answering this as if you'd read the blade stamping w/ the point up .
Those were manufactured from late 1972 thru early 1974 . Let us know if your stamping is read differently . The blade steel is 440C and handle material is macassar ebony . Neither of those Buck uses any longer . I'd hold on to it as those are getting hard to find in good shape . DM

Thanks for the info on my 110.It has been in my family for at least 25 years that I know of.Only 2 things kind of concern me.It is a "working knife" for sure as it has its share of bumps and bruises but still goes to work with me every day.It has been sharpened a few times over the years so there is a little blade loss.I'd like to send it back to Buck to be checked out and maybe have the blade replaced but I'm afraid I won't get the blade replaced with one from that era which would lower the value of the knife. Its not for sale anyways. It'll stay in the family for sure.Maybe I could find a knife with a decent blade from that same era and have it replaced in my knife?

Dirt, Yes you could do what you say . Or just purchase another 110 only 30$ or one of the ones with up grade steel and use that one . Putting yours up for posterity . Your welcome . DM

Dave,Its funny you say that because I do have 2 newer model 110's but always just carried the first one.I think I'll take your advice and just put it away like it is.I hope the new one holds up as well as my 1st.

Dirt, if your 110 is an older one with 440C steel, I would not have Buck replace the blade as 440C is a more desirable blade steel vs. 420HC.

Vinny

vba, Yes, Its 420 only . At one time--a few years back they would replace a blade w/ a upgrade steel . But thats no longer done . DM
