Apprenticeships

Does anyone here have an apprentice? I'd really like to start making knives, but I have no idea as to where to start. I did check out the thread with the "absolute cheapskate way to start making knives" so I was thinking I would start there, but I'm considering looking to see if there is anyone here in Jacksonville that could be somewhat of a mentor.

Since you're up on the north end of Florida there's a group in Georgia as well http://www.georgiaknifemakersguild.com/
I know several of their members, including John Costa, Jamey Saunders and Carl Reichsteiner, all great guys.
