Here's the deal: there is no "official" knife for any federal law enforcement agency. With that said, companies have to get licensed as an approved vendor to be able to use the badge, seal, insignia, etc on items made for the agency. A lot of companies don't and bootleg their product and use the badge, seal, etc without official approval.
We went through the application process and submitted samples. Once we were granted a license we could then officially use the badge, seal, etc on special cutlery for the USMS. What generally happens, is if your product is of good quality and built around what an agent needs (ours is), it becomes the carry of most everyone in the agency, basically making it the "unofficial" carry by default.
Law enforcement groups have been very good to RAT Cutlery. We take care of our cops and military guys and listen to their feedback. We have some new things in the works now with various agencies and government groups and will continue to pursue these avenues because we feel we can make as good of a product as anyone, and know we can sell it at less cost and back it with the best customer service and warranty in the business.
