I was cleaning out my closet and came across my old American Survival Guide issues and came across a 2 page ad for Cutlery Shoppe a mail order knife place back then and some of these prices amaze me.

Spyderco:
Police 55.95
Mariner 47.95
Hunter 39.95
Standard 27.95
Worker 39.95
Executive 36.95

Leatherman PST 29.95

Victorinox Swisschamp 54.95 (thats really odd cause in 20 years the price hasnt changed)

I found an ad for the now illegal ballistic knife which I still kick myself for not buying one, without the spring of course ;) Kinda makes me wonder what things are gonna be like 20 years from now.

That just proves that we mustn't waste time. We have to go out and buy our knives NOW NOW NOW!

I used to live near Boise, ID where the Cuttlery Shoppe is located (they are still in business!). I have a 1991 Winter/Christmas catalog.

Police – $78.40
Mariner – $68.00
Hunter – $61.60
Worker – $61.60
Executive – $54.40

Leatherman Tool – $37.50 (I guess the PST hadn't been invented)

Swiss Champ – $49.20

It seems things were more expensive in 1991!

The Cutlery Shoppe was mostly mail order but they have did have a small store front and every year they would have a sidewalk sale! It was amazing. It was like Herrod's during a sale. I couldn't walk away from there without spending between $200 and $400! Most were for gifts for Christmas, and a goodly amount was for me! I really miss those sales.
