THIS IS FAKE! THIS WAS AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE I PLAYED ON SOME FRIENDS TO SEE IF THEY WOULD CATCH ON TO WHY IT COULD NEVER HAPPEN.

I'll tell you ahead of time the following post I made on Facebook is fake, but I did it to screw with my friends and see if any of them would catch the signs and realize that it was fake. I'm sure you guys will have more luck than my college buddies did, but consider a test of knowledge:

The post: I broke my ZT0561. I went to disengage the frame lock and the lock bar just kept going! So it turns out I must have caught it at just the right angle to bend it out. I tried to bend it back but it just snapped. This is a sad day for what I thought was a nice knife. I am not happy.

Edited for clarity. I thought the original title and first sentence made it clear this was fake but I added more.

I hope Kershaw/ZT covers this under warranty. This kind of quality is unacceptable.

EBHM4 -

You really should make it a little more clear that what you posted was not true. It's a little confusing and I think most people reading this will think you actually broke your knife.

I thought he was pretty clear about it. :p

Through my time here on these forums, I've come to notice that A LOT of people actually just scan these posts. Some only look at pictures, some only read a couple sentences, and some just scan very fast and catch words or phrases of interest. He was very clear, but you'd be surprised at people.

Edit:Me saying this to a guy with almost 63k posts. :D

OT, April Fools Day is evil. Pretty good joke for the non-knife people though.

Alright, I made it a little more clear that this is fake, though I guess I thought anyone who read the title and the first sentence would get it anyways! But the point of this is WHY it is fake. Anyone intimately familiar with the ZT0561 should know why it can't suffer from an overextended lockbar like that...

Also, for Oregon, I'm majoring in English and minoring in Communications Rhetoric.

EBHM4 - Thanks - no offense intended, I just don't want people to get the wrong impression. My bold text was intended to highlight the fact that the original statement was untrue, and not an attempt to shout through the computer screen.

It's cool Jimmer, I got your intention. And as I said, there's a reason the "failure" I described could never happen to the ZT0561 and I'm waiting for someone to come out and say it. The original intent of this thread was and is to see who can spot the giveaway of why this story is fake first. I'm still waiting on an answer!

I read a lot in the general discussion area and that is very evident. Or folks reply to a joking reply three pages in that has nothing to do with the OP. It seems that most just can't wait to get their own opinion out there, regardless of its relevance.

Life on the internet, I guess.

I got what you were saying right away. I just didn't want to be a jerk. Please don't take this personally.. It just didn't come off as a prank as it wasn't funny or entertaining or creative. It's like changing a stop sign to a yield sign and going "haha it should be a stop sign everyone that drives this road will get this and it'll be funny".. nobody much cares and it's really not that funny.. and potentially dangerous. Not dangerous in the same sense here, but Jim is right that not everyone will get that it is a prank. It is dangerous in that people may not be familiar enough to realize it was a prank that was a total flop and think it actually broke. We have a enough haters that confusing information meant as a prank could be picked up and spread as truth and do real damage.

<- There is your problem.

I get what you are TRYING to do.. but..
Still, not funny.

Unless you removed the Hinderer lockbar stabilizer, there's no way you could have caused a failure of the lockbar that way since overextension would be impossible.

Exactly Apec! I guess you win bragging rights for this one. The idea behind the original joke was to test some of my friends to see if they could catch that this failure could never occur. They didn't get it so I figured I would post it up here and make a little game out of seeing who here got it first.
