Was looking into getting an Aqua Salt, for surf fishing, I see you have the choice of the serrated edge, I might consider that edge but what about when it comes time to sharpen it, would I be better off with the plain edge.

I think for what you'll be using the knife for that a pe will be a Much Better

choice. The se will cut just about anything but for your fishing needs a pe

would be better.

An se is sharpened quite easily using the corners of a Sharpmaker. If you have

the SM video Sal does a great of showing how to sharpen an se. A pe is easier to sharpen most people. They're both easy for me on the SM.

I almost forgot...Welcome to BF.

I don't know what you mean. I don't know how or why you'd be "better off with the plain edge" when it comes time to sharpening.

Need more info.

Edit: actually, you can solve this one yourself. Do you know how to sharpen an SE, and are you good at it? If so, then you might like to get the SE.

When I fish I like using a plain edge for on-the-boat chores. It's easier to cut fishing line with, and it will do great with weeds and bait. If I were cutting thick rope all day I'd get the serrated edge version. As fas as sharpening, you can take the plain edge straight to the sharpmaker or stone. Serrations are a little bit more trickier and to be honest I'm not good at sharpening. So, if It were me I'd go with the plain edge.
