AR barrels?

I have pretty much everything I want for an AR build I want to do but I have no idea about the barrel. I know top end guys like Noveske make awesome and expensive barrels. I would like to spend less than a Noveske barrel, I think bushmaster and rock river make decently priced barrels. Who do you recommend for a good solid barrel for not as much as a Noveske? I an going to build the rifle piece btu piece so if I have the money left over I might go with a Noveske. Also if there is a barrel profile out there that is the same profile as a standard m4 style with out the grenade launcher cut I would prefer that.

I own RR, Colt, Eagle Arms and CMMG..actually recently gave the Colt HBAR to my son so scratch that. All shot fine, the RR is 24" Varmint and best shooter by far however it is a bench varmint rifle...heavy as a piece of railroad track.

I'm just an old trigger puller, paper puncher and occasional colony varmint shooter but think you'd have to work hard to get a bad barrel from the major OEM providers...even though accuracy is in the upper a good trigger, optics and quality ammunition are what makes the big differences for me. I am not a match competitor.

I'd be guessing that some of the name barrels are just re-branded from several common manufacturers.

Check Brownell's or Midway and see if they have any of the Daniel Defence barrels in stock-----Bravo Company also has some very nice uppers for sale and maybe barrels--never really checked on just a barrel there.

my game gun is a 16inch Rock River with the intermediate gas tap location, full float tube (it was a complete RR upper).... with 55grain S&B ammo, RR NM trigger and 4x32 ACOG (55 grain reticle) it will shoot 4inches at 400m

with a modified Miculek brake (minor thread diameter hole extended thru the boss and rear wiper...front two are retained...complete threads through boss and get rid of the jam nut .... use dimensional washers to clock the brake...with an Enidine hydraulic buffer it stays on target (10inch flash targets at 400m)

Ok another question, I am going with a free float mid length rail, should I get a carbine length gas system or a mid length gas system? I want the mid length rail so I can put a BUIS on the rail and get a slightly longer sight picture.

the mid length gas location will decrease the pressure on the bolt carrier key... most perceive a less violent recoil impulse

mid length rail will cover completely carbine length gas system. Front sight/gas block will be inside the rail. If you use inter mediate gas system, your rail will end behind the gas block/front sight base leaving it completely exposed. Instead off building my own upper receiver, I would check with folks from LMT and see what they got at the moment.
Barrel options??? Noveske, LMT, Colt. There is a big chance that no matter what are you going to buy now, eventually you will end up with one of those on the end of your AR adventure. Save yourself a lots of money by NOT purchasing cheap AR's, accessories, and parts. In the past I had Colt and LMT 16" carbines, and an Armalite carbine with mid length gas system. Still have that LMT, she has not malfunctioned yet. LMK if you have any questions.

No I plan on good stuff for the rifle. Troy rail and sights, magpul grip and stock, not sure about a scope or red dot going to keep it ironed at the beginning, get good with those. I am looking at Essential Arms for my upper and lower and a BCM BCG for that, and also what is the difference in a full auto carrier group and a semi auto? I am guessing that the full auto is ok to put in a semi auto.

I have an Arsenal AK when the Romanian Wasrs are all over the gun shops here, so I like quality fire arms.

bitter1.... on the bolt carrier question, its not really a matter of full auto v. semi carrier per se, but whether the firing pin is shrouded, and the carrier cocks the hammer, or whether the firing pin is in contact with the hammer and the firing pin takes the abuse of cocking the hammer.... some will recommend the full auto carrier to help prevent carrier tilt when it goes into recoil as there is more bearing surface....real M16 carrier should have the bolt carrier key staked correctly....to my knowledge my commercial bolts are not shot peened nor magnetic particle tested, only proof tested.... my semi AR Rock River carrier is shrouded, my back up gun has an M16 carrier which according to Bravo Company is a legal part for an AR
