I just got back from the range trying out my new AR and boy are my thumbs tired. Does anyone have a recommendation for a mag loader for AR magazines?

TIA

Your simply pushing the rounds straight down and not sliding in like a pistol mag right?
I only ask as I can't tell you how many people I've seen loading AR mags like a pistol mag and struggling.

There are several on the market. They all work. I saw one that looked really nice, but it was kind of expensive. ($80) They run $25 and up. Mostly up. I saw one that you could make yourself if you have wood working tools.

Ive used the Maglula M-16 / AR-15 LULA Magazine loader/unloader both on the range and in the desert.

Ive used and abused it. Its been used for thousands of rounds and still has not quit.

Its compact and inexpensive and there when you need it.

I heartedly recommend it.

There are also more fancy solitions.

Caldwell makes a lot of gun related stuff and also a loader. Cant say Ive used it though, so cant vouch for it.

My favorite is the StripLULA. The 5.56 MagLULA from the same company is also good. The StripLULA is better for loading, and the MagLULA is better for unloading magazines.

I disagree.
Though the StripLula can also be used with individual rounds, its real advantage is for use with stripper clips (hence the name presumably).
But its of course up to the individual, what he/she prefers. I find the MagLula works a breeze for both loading individual rounds and for unloading.

Thats an understatement.
Its their bestseller - there is a reason for that.

Thanks guys, I like the look of the StripLULA. I like how compact it is.
