I decided to buy Strider AR or SMF in a day or two. I used to have AR a year ago or so, but had to sell it. I still have kydex sheath for it that bought separetly. It was great folder, just was really need money. I really like the look of SMF too, thought I never handled one, and the specs of this knife are impressive, the cutting surface even longer than AR's by quarter of inch and same 0.19 blade thickness. I just don't know which one to get. Help!!!

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

The SMF should fit a greater range of hand sizes than the very blocky AR. But since you already liked the AR, that shouldn't be a problem. Still, you might find the new shape even more comfortable.

You could draw actual size outlines of both knives on cardboard, cut them out, and see how they feel to hold.

Yes, or may be go to the strider's work shop since I live in San Diego, and handle them in person :)
Thank you for the replies guys, i will give it a thought!

I like the frame lock as opposed to the liner myself. I am an SNG guy, but the SMF is cool. I use the piss outta my SNG and it keeps on ticking.

I'm wasting my time around here. I should have been a straight man for a really funny comedian. Like Carrot Top :barf:

Did I ever mention how much it pisses me off to try to help people who don't even bother giving us the information we need to help them?

... ... ...

I am confused Esav. You ok? You aren't wasting you time man. Good advice is always needed.

FWIW I hear there's a Tanto version of the SMF in the making. I'd buy one.

Esav, did not mean to offend you, sorry if I did. I was not only wondering on the diffrence of how two knives feel in the hand, but also how they perform with time.First impression may be decieving too. Thank you for all advises.

Well both knives are awesome performers. You are going to hear from two distinct Strider user pools on this question. Some of us swear by the SNG/SMF frame lock setup, and there are the guys, who will tell you an AR/GB is the only way to go. It all comes down to which one you like more in the end. I have held both, and prefer the SNG/SMF. The SNG is my EDC. The AR/GB is a great knife too. I think you should just put a piece of paper in front of you. With a sharpie, write SMF on one side of the paper. Write AR on the other. Spin the paper around and put you hand down on it. Get whichever one you hand is on. Why? Easy, any Strider is the right Strider. You will be happy with either one.

Thank you, I have made a decision. I am gonna get the SMF first. And then later will get GB, since I like the thicknees to the tip of the tanto blade. So I would have a slicer-SMF and a folding axe-GB :)
