just a tad, what the hell do i use to loosen this thing? never seen a fastener like this before. what do you guys use and where do i get it? thanks.

Tom,

It will "break in" with use. It's better to have it a little tight than too loose. You need a spanner wrench to loosen the pivot. A lot of guys here make their own out of screwdrivers, tack pullers or certain wrenches made by park tool (I think it's a 15mm end wrench). A little creativity w/ a Dremel tool is all you need. I think that there is a lot of Loc tite on there, so it will probably be tight. Put a little gun oil or 3 in 1 oil on the pivot, that should loosen it up some.

Dont mess with it yet.
Oil the bad boy up and use it. If its still tight after a few weeks of everyday carry, then its something to take a look at.

I'm with Kyle. Don't do anything to it yet. My AR was tight in the beginning now it's right as rain.
Besides, can't a simple allen key do the trick on the circular side? It's almost camo.

A friend of mine just got an AR as well and it was really tight. I took a modified ground down tack puller (from Home Depot) and an allen wrench and loosened the pivot just a hair. It was just enough to make the action perfect.

On the other hand, I've tried to take apart my AR and have busted a bunch of tools (3 spanner wrenches) trying. Had to send it in for Mick to look at. I say give it a try with tools that you can make. If it's still to tight, send it in.

well i've already oiled it and it loosened up a bit. i can't find a spanner wrench so i'll go to my dads and use his grinder and modify a big screwdriver.

i'm going to wait and let it loosen up naturally. if it doesn't after a while then i'll mess with it.

thanks for the info.

We are sending them out a little tighter.
We were getting a few back by people complaining they were too loose.
Your knife should break in soon.

If not, feel free to send it in for us to look at.

Thanks
