I got an email showing some new Artisan/CRJB knives in AR-SFII steel but I can't find any info on it. Website says improved edge retention over arpm9, but details would be appreciated!

It looks really close to bg42 ,I ordered one will see what happens, hit the highlight on the steel under the specs and it tells you the composition

Gotta say, Artisan has largely been dead to me between lots of QC problems, major headaches with their customer service, and the whole AR-RPM9 fiasco. That was after the initial let-down in terms of edge retention and the reveal that this "rare" steel was purportedly a PM-version of 9Cr18Mov. The later reveal that it wasn't even powder metallurgy was just nails in the coffin.

So this is the first I've heard of their new AR-SFII. It appears that they've gone with a more modest name and embraced the fact that their steel guys are actually using spray form: AR-SFII - Artisan's second spray form steel.

That's cool at least. TwoSun also has an exclusive spray form steel that is largely analogous to M390 by composition. Anyone know or have a link to the composition on AR-SFII?

Thanks. So transcribing from the image:

1.1% - Carbon
14.7% - Chromium
3.75% - Molybdenum
0.40 % - Manganese
1.11% - Vanadium
0.45% - Silicon
0.25% - Nickel

I don't have any experience with BG-42 but yeah, it looks like that was the model. It seems that CTS-B75P is the PM analog of BG-42. So now I guess we'll have an SF analog.

Coincidentally, this recipe family also looks a lot like 154CM, CPM-154, and RWL-34 but with an added 1% Vanadium. For anyone here who has experience with BG-42 or CTS-B75P, how do they compare to 154CM, CPM-154, or RWL-34?

(Of course, an elephant in the room here that previously sat on AR-RPM9 is that this steel being exclusive to Artisan means that it will be limited to their heat treatment. Does anyone have high hopes for that?)
