This really neat little caping knife showed up in the mail today, a very pleasant surprise gift from my good friend Chad. :D The folks in Argentina did a great job on this little guy. The thick stag scales look pretty and allow the small knife to fit my hand very well. The sheath is nicely tooled leather, rather than the recycled clam pack material so common nowadays. Totally "my cup of tea". Not sure what kind of strings he had to pull to get it for me, since it does not yet seem to be available here in the States, but some of the dealers in Europe seem to have them. Here are a few photos of it. The last one shows it with one of Chad's SUBCOM folders for size comparison...

I have a soft spot for knives without the Spanish/sharpening notch for some strange reason..... ;)

Nope Jano, just the trick you taught me to use with my Kodak.

Brian, the Miguelito is not one of Chad's designs, although the resemblance is strong enough that I wondered if it was the first time I saw pictures of it in a Boker catalog. I commented to him at the time that it would be cool if Boker offered a version of the Subcom FB with similar scales. Guess he ordered one of them for me. :D

As for the notch, I like it on a blade where the tang is level with, or extends below, the sharpened edge, as on the Subcom fixed and folder. I find it makes sharpening easier and neater. However, on a knife like the Miguelito, where the sharpened edge extends all the way to the choil, there is no need for it.

Mahalo my to you bro! Figured everyone here would know how big a SF was. :D Belt loop is big enough that the sheath slides easily onto a thick 2" belt I have.

Mahalo Deac',

Enjoy your stag toy! Hope it don't end up in the FUN-nel!

God bless ya Knifebro!!!
