I just got a 2 ton arbor press for stamping logos. I have been googling for an adaptor that will serve as a holding device for my logo stamp, but I can't find any :( Maybe some of you guys could share some infos on how you mounted your stamps on the ram bar :)

Most I have seen done is to mill the bottom of the ram and attach with a clamp.

I've had good results in the past by just placing the stamp where I want it and use the press to lightly hold it in place. Then when it's plumb and centered, press down.

Otherwise, I was going to build a sleeve with a set screw to slide the stamp into and weld or braze it onto the ram. But I found that it wasn't necessary as I could just make it work the first way.

I just milled a slot in mine and added two set screws to secure the stamp. Its been doing fine for over ten years.Dave:)

Depending on the stamp size, some folks stick the stamp in the square hole of a 12 point socket and the socket on the ram. You may have to file the stamp to fit the socket hole ( 1/2" or 3/4").

Slotting the ram to fit and adding a set screw or knob to lock in the stamp is the best system, but it makes the press a dedicated stamping tool, and will always require the stamp to be the same size. The presses are pretty cheap, so that is usually no big deal.

I have a socket on mine. Although the socket does work fairly well using the milled slot is definately the more secure way to go.
