Do any of you guys use an arbor press to straighten blades and liners?

If so what size press does it take?

I was thinking a 1/2 ton would be plenty. Do you need a 1 ton or bigger?

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

That's really going to depend on the width, thickness, hardness, and type of material you need to straighten.

Although I have a 18 ton hydraulic press, I've also used a 6" machinist vise to straighten small folder parts. You just have to use shims for some parts!

Tony, I have been wanting one for expanding pins in bolsters. I never even thought about straightening something. It would be handy for sqeezing the gap closed on gaurds too. I want the 1 ton. Bruce B
